The American Constitution and Its Intersection with Jewish Law and Jewish Values

This course will explore issues of the Constitution and its amendments through the lens of Jewish law and ethics. Sessions will include the influence of Judaism on the founding fathers, Miranda, privacy, capital punishment, gun laws, separation of church and state, abortion, and more. We will look at text from Biblical rabbinic sources and Supreme Court decisions, and discuss the convergences and contrasts, hopefully coming away wiser and more anchored in the "Jewish position(s)" in these matters.

Sessions will be held Thursday evenings, from 7:10 – minyan

Dates: September 19, October 17, November 7, December 5, December 12, March 5, March 19, April 23, May 14, June 4
